This report outlines Dubai’s second participation as a benchmarking entity in PIRLS 2016. Students in Dubai participated in the fourth cycle of the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS). This assessment monitors trends in students’ reading achievement at the fourth grade level. It is administered by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), and is repeated every five years. In 2016, Dubai also participated in the first cycle of ePIRLS, a supplement to PIRLS focused on online reading content.
