Skills for Life is a Dubai-wide initiative that aims to empower learners with the essential life skills needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected world. Going beyond academic achievement, the initiative supports learners of all ages in developing the practical skills, mindsets, and values that foster wellbeing, independence, lifelong learning, and meaningful participation in society.
The initiative reflects Dubai’s ambition to cultivate future-ready learners and thriving communities by taking a holistic approach to learning that connects life skills with wellbeing, belonging, and positive social engagement. It recognises that these strengths are developed throughout every stage of life and learning, and promotes shared responsibility across Dubai’s life skills ecosystem, including educational leaders, institutions, educators, parents, learners, and the wider community.
Aligned with Dubai’s future-ready learner vision and Education Strategy 2033 (E33), Skills for Life prepares learners to navigate a rapidly evolving future with confidence, adaptability, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose. The initiative contributes to Dubai’s long-term social and economic aspirations by supporting the development of capable, engaged, and globally minded individuals who can positively contribute to the emirate’s continued growth and prosperity.
Rather than positioning life skills as a standalone area of learning, Skills for Life promotes an integrated approach across all learning environments. Building on existing KHDA initiatives and international best practice, the initiative strengthens the wider life skills ecosystem by celebrating effective practice, encouraging collaboration, and supporting continuous development across the education sector.
The initiative focuses on developing capabilities in areas such as healthy living, financial and digital literacy, personal agency, social and emotional skills, and sustainable living, ensuring learners graduate with the confidence, adaptability, and capabilities needed for everyday life, future learning, and successful careers.
