This service enables private schools to request KHDA’s approval for relocating their school to a new site.

Phase One:

  • Land allocation plan and lease or ownership agreement for the new site
  • Relocation plan
  • Draft letter to parents notifying them of the school's plan to move to a new location
  • Academic plan (if requested by KHDA)

Phase Two:

  • Environmental Health and Safety Certificate issued by Dubai Civil Defence
  • Building Completion Certificate issued by Dubai Municipality
  • School Clinic Licence issued by Dubai Health Authority (DHA)

Terms and conditions

  • The KHDA Educational Services Permit and the Commercial Licence must be valid at the time of submitting the application for this service.
  • The school must prepare formal communication to inform parents about the relocation and submit it to KHDA for review and approval before dissemination.
  • The new premises must comply with the KHDA-approved academic building or be an appropriate temporary facility that meets the required standards.
  • The relocation should be scheduled during a term or semester break or the summer holiday at the end of the academic year to avoid disruption to  learning. 
  • The new premises  must be completed  and approved at least one month before the start of the academic year.After receiving KHDA approval, the school must update all signage, publications, and advertising or marketing materials to reflect the new address.

The process

  • Submit the relocation application via the KHDA portal, including all necessary requirements and approvals for Phase One.
  • KHDA reviews the application. Once approved, an Initial Approval letter is issued.
  • Inform parents about the new location. Complete the necessary procedures with the relevant government authorities.
  • Submit Phase Two documents once the new premises are ready. Coordinate with KHDA for a site visit by the compliance team.
  • KHDA’s compliance team verifies that the location fulfils all standards. Once confirmed, the school pays the service fees and receives a No Objection Certificate addressed to the licensing authority. The Educational Services Permit is updated to reflect the new location.
  • The school updates all its signage, advertising, and marketing materials to display the new address.
