This service allows private schools to seek approval for introducing a new curriculum or altering their current educational curriculum.

The processing period of 16 working days begins once KHDA has received all required documents.

Required documents

  • Updated academic plan (for adding a new curriculum) or a new academic plan (for changing the curriculum).
  • Accreditation certificates from recognised academic bodies (if available).
  • A copy of the letter sent to parents informing them of the curriculum change or addition.

Terms and conditions

  • KHDA Educational Services Permit and the Commercial Licence must be valid at the time of submitting the application for this service.
  • The school must submit an academic plan that complies with the standards of the proposed curriculum.
  • Approval from a recognised academic accrediting body is required, where applicable.
  • The KHDA will review the submitted plans for curriculum change and inform the school of its decision within ten (10) working days from the date of receiving the amendments.
  • The applicant must submit the necessary changes to the academic plan to the KHDA within a maximum of twenty (20) working days from the date of notification. The applicant is permitted to make amendments up to three (3) times. If the applicant exceeds the specified submission period, they will need to reapply.

The process

  • Send the application via email to rpc@khda.gov.ae, attaching all necessary documents and approvals.
  • KHDA reviews the application and issues a decision.
  • The fee for changing or adding a new curriculum is paid once all conditions and requirements are met.
  • KHDA updates the school’s Educational Services Permit to reflect the new or additional curriculum.
