DUBAI - Middlesex University London is to be presented with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its international projects, including work in Dubai.

The award — the most prestigious available to businesses in Britain — recognises the University’s success in developing international campuses, forging partnerships with educational institutions across the world and welcoming talented students to the UK.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Driscoll said: “We’re proud to be recognised for our international projects as for many years we’ve made it our goal to provide a high quality British education to students wherever they are.

“International students are one of the reasons British Universities are recognised across the world, as our campuses have such a diverse mix of people, cultures, skills and ideas. There are more opportunities than ever to study and gain work experience in different countries and we are delighted to offer our students the chance to study in India, Mauritius, Dubai or the UK, who know that they will receive the same high quality education wherever they are.”

Middlesex is well known for its international campuses, with bases in Dubai and Mauritius and a centre opening in India in October. The University also works in partnership with institutions including Renmin University in Beijing, Cairo Modern University for Science and Arts, AKTO in Athens, Hong Kong University, the Open University of Hong Kong and a global partnership with SAE, who all award Middlesex degrees from their own campuses.

To win the award Middlesex highlighted the quality of its international strategy and demonstrated that it is a responsible company making a positive impact on society.

Dr Misho Ravic, Co-Chairman of the Joint Board of Directors, Middlesex University Dubai, and Managing Director, Middlesex Associates, said: “At Middlesex University Dubai, we are honoured and delighted to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise which recognizes the tremendous success and growth of the Dubai campus. It is testimony to the University’s recognition of the importance of bringing high quality British education to strategically located campuses around the world”.

The awards are made annually by Her Majesty the Queen. Previous winners have included BBC Worldwide, Dyson, JCB and British Telecom.

The Dubai campus of Middlesex University is celebrating its sixth year in Dubai which currently enrols over 1750 students and has more than 1,000 graduates. The UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education’s (QAA) has given its top-most rating to Middlesex University in 2009. QAA identified as ‘good practice’ the meticulous attention given to the establishment, development and integration of the University’s Dubai campus. The University was praised for assuring that learning opportunities in Dubai are comparable to those available to students in London. The campus is also licensed by the Dubai government’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Furthermore, the University Quality Assurance International Board at KHDA reviews all programmes on offer in Dubai to ensure that the quality of programmes taught in Dubai are equivalent to those at the home campus in London.
