Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Education Council says it has finalised its hiring process for the new school year. The council said it had selected 212 teaching professionals to be placed in schools across the emirate's three zones: Abu Dhabi, the Western Zone and Al Ain.
The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) said the new teachers were selected from a pool of 18,000 applicants. They would teach in disciplines including history, mathematics, Islamic studies, psychology, physics, information technology and art, the council said.
The new recruits included Emirati nationals and expatriates — a total of 102 UAE citizens and 110 non-nationals — the council said.
Adec Executive Director of School Operations Mohammad Salem Al Daheri said: "This recruitment effort falls in line with the implementation of Adec's 10-year strategic plan which requires teachers to be suitably qualified to provide our students with the best educational services.
"In order to provide a world-class education we must have capable teachers who have been trained in a diverse range of teaching methods, and who understand the importance of tailoring education to suit the needs of individual students," Al Daheri said.
All applicants were chosen in compliance with the council's standards, which require that teachers have a bachelor's degree with high standing, in addition to a teaching qualification. Expatriate teachers must have a minimum of three years of teaching experience.
The council said it would also deploy a system of hiring teachers and instructors from abroad in a new programme to be announced soon.
