Dubai: Security education will be included as part of the school curriculum starting next year.

Major General Dr Jamal Al Merri, Dubai Police's Deputy Commandant General, praised the security education programme, which comes under the direction of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to include the programme of the security education as part of a national curriculum to be taught in the country's schools from next year.

Police contribution

Major General Dr Al Merri attended the first day of the activities organised as part of the security education week at Al Ummah School in Dubai.

He pointed out the importance of building a strong personality in the pupils. He said approving the security education programme to be a part of schools curriculum, reflects the leadership's keenness on building the personality of the pupil with confidence and great knowledge.

He said Dubai Police have given a lot of attention to the security experience and contributed in teaching male and female pupils the required skills and knowledge.

Major General Dr Al Merri called on government establishments and organisations to contribute in supporting pupils to make this programme a success, as it has a number of positive social, security and cultural outcomes.

Taha Al Hamri, Director of Administrative Services Section, called on parents to cooperate in making the programme a success by encouraging their children to enrol for it.
