DUBAI - A group of supervisors and directors from the Ministry of Education are currently participating in the 63rd Annual Conference of Supervisors and Curriculum Directors (ASCD) on the theme “Reinventing Schools: Courageous Leadership for Positive Change” being held in New Orleans, USA, until March 22.

Representatives of 86 countries are participating.

Commenting on UAE’s participation, Dr Fouzia Badri, Executive Director for Teaching Affairs in the Ministry of Education, said, “It will enhance the skills and capabilities of supervisors and directors and help them employ their experiences in the education process. Besides, it will allow them (the supervisors of curriculum) to benefit from the exposure to international best practice.”

Dr Badri indicated that the conference’s 550 sessions would discuss various topics about creating better schools, improving programmes for teaching and learning, education approaches, building stronger learning communities, best practices for ensuring student learning, teaching strategies and school restructuring.

The supervisors’ delegation includes Jameela Ahmed Al Muhairi (Mathematics supervisor), Mariam bin Abdullah bin Twaih (Physics), Mariam Ali Al Ghawi (Special Needs), Aisha Jassim Al Shamsi (Mathematics), Aisha Ismail Hassan (Kindergarten), Jameela Abdullah Mohamed Rafea and Moaza Obaid Rashid Saeed (both English language supervisors) and Amina Kank (English language teacher).
