Dubai – June 18, 2025: Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority has announced the Dubai Students Council (DSC) for the 2025-26 academic year, as part of the Leaders of Tomorrow game changer initiative under the Education 33 strategy.

The initiative marks a significant step in amplifying student voices and ensuring their perspectives are integrated into the development of Dubai’s private education sector. It aims to create a more inclusive, responsive, and innovative learning environment that reflects the diverse needs and aspirations of Dubai’s learners.

The DSC will comprise 15 students from Grade 9/Year 10 to Grade 12/Year 13, representing various curricula taught across Dubai’s private schools. Reflecting the emirate’s rich diversity, the group will include students from different cultural backgrounds, including Emiratis, with varied interests, ensuring broad and inclusive representation.

Dr Amna Almaazmi, CEO of Growth and Human Development at KHDA, said: “The Education 33 strategy is built on the belief that students are not just participants in education – they are partners. The Dubai Students Council is a pioneering platform that gives students a voice and enables them to help shape the future of learning in the emirate by participating in decisions that impact their educational experience. It also instils the leadership, communication, and collaboration skills they need to thrive in life beyond school.

“We encourage all eligible students, including Emiratis, to step forward and express their interest for the 2025-26 academic year. Your ideas and perspectives matter, and your voice can help shape and enrich the education journey of every learner in Dubai.”

The DSC representatives will act as a bridge between KHDA and students, fostering open communication and collaborative problem-solving. It will also support KHDA’s commitment to meaningful student engagement by enabling students to discuss current challenges, propose solutions, and contribute to educational improvement across Dubai’s private school landscape.

All private schools in Dubai are invited to nominate one student each who meets the programme’s eligibility criteria, including good conduct, strong leadership potential, effective communication and teamwork skills, and active participation in school or community initiatives.

The KHDA team will review all applications and select the 15-member DSC committee, who will begin their term from the 2025-26 academic year. Each student will serve a one-year term, with the option to reapply for a second term, subject to eligibility and their performance within the team.

Eligible students who are interested in joining the DSC are encouraged to discuss the nomination process with their school leadership.

Announced by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the Education 33 strategy is a transformative vision for education in Dubai. E33 places students at the heart of the learning journey, embracing individuality while promoting inclusion, innovation, and excellence. The strategy supports the development of a thriving education ecosystem that empowers every learner in Dubai to succeed in a rapidly evolving world.

Game Changer initiatives will be rolled out in several phases over the next decade to support the E33 goals, redefine educational experiences and outcomes, and foster innovation and excellence across all levels of education.
