Every parent knows the value of educating their children but trying to provide the best opportunities in life for the next generation can come at a high economic price.
In Dubai there is a school fee increase cap and this is welcomed by families who find their annual budget harder to maintain with each passing year. But schools too face increasing costs and need money to provide facilities and salaries for their staff.
Teachers, who make an invaluable contribution to society, must be paid a decent salary. And education in the fullest sense is more than just about maths and books. Sport, music and many other activities help broaden and develop young minds.
All these disciplines need to be properly financed. If a school provides value for money then no parent will have any objection to making sacrifices to pay fees for schools that educate in the broadest sense of the word.
