ABU DHABI — The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced that it is taking all the necessary measures to ensure that the school year begins and ends on the same date for students across the country.
The ministry, in a formal response to an enquiry by Federal National Council (FNC) member Amir Abd Al Jalil Al Fahim on April 16 regarding the length of the school year, maintained that the school year in the country will begin on August 31 this year and end on June 4, 2009. The number of school days will be 175 with no extension. The summer vacation will be for 58 days and occur at the same time for all schools and universities.
The ministry, in its response signed by Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, and dated April 21, added that it was keen on making the length of the school year comparable to that in advanced countries, which is 180 days, for the educational system in the country to be internationally recognised.
