DUBAI — In a move aimed at achieving an advanced phase of public school reforms and development, the Ministry of Education has amended the standards for promotion of directors and assistant directors of schools and kindergartens in the UAE.
"In the past two years, both directors and assistant directors underwent several preparatory courses and programmes based on international educational standards," said Minister of Education Dr Hanif Hassan. "The new promotion standards reflect a new trend of raising the efficiency of school administrations."
The education minister explained that in order to get promoted the directors of schools, kindergartens or evening schools should obtain B.Ed degree with a special major in kindergarten and three years' experience in previous positions.
Candidates must also obtain an outstanding performance average in their last employment year in addition to the ICDL certificate, TOEFL of 500 or IELTS with a grade point average not less than 5.
He explained that the assistant director's position in schools, evening schools or kindergartens requires that the candidate must be working as a teacher and possess B.Ed degree.

The Director-General in the Ministry of Education, Rashid Lekribati Al Nuaimi, assured that the number of candidates for each vacant position should not exceed five.
