Dubai: The pilot educational reform programme introduced in 50 selected public schools across the UAE proved a big success in its first year. New curriculums and teaching methods will be introduced in the coming academic year.
Madares Al Ghad (Schools for Tomorrow), a pilot project by the Ministry of Education to revamp the public education system, will gradually include all public schools.
Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, said the vision of the education reform effort is to create in the United Arab Emirates "world-class public education systems that will not only serve the children of our country, but will also become the model for public education throughout the Middle East".
These schools aim to graduate pupils proficient in Arabic and English, knowledgeable about and committed to their rich heritage and ... prepared for direct entry into higher education institutions worldwide, satisfying careers, parenthood, and productive citizenship in a global society, he said.
"One of the primary goals of our education reform programme is to progressively increase the involvement of Emirati teachers and school administrators as educational leaders at their schools and in their communities."
