Prince Michael of Kent officially inaugurated the British curriculum GEMS Wellington Primary School in downtown Dubai, Saturday.
Prior to visiting GEMS Wellington Primary School, he formally inaugurated the new Sixth Form wing at GEMS Wellington International School in the presence of students and their parents.
Prince Michael toured the newest primary school of GEMS Education, talked to the students aged 3 to 11 years, and met parents.
He said that the visit gave him the opportunity to see the rapid development of the school in its first year:
“I am delighted to be able to visit GEMS Wellington Primary School, the sister school of Wellington International School, to see its growth in stature as a central part of the community here – congratulations to the school on its achievements.”
Anne Waite, Principal of Wellington Primary School briefed Him on the growth of the school, which has tripled in size hardly six months into its inception.
“Today we are celebrating the development of GWPS as a thriving and family focused school. With 32 nationalities represented within our 155 pupils, we are truly an international community. “
GEMS Wellington Primary School opened its doors to students in September 2007 and since then 155 students have been enrolled.
Situated close to Sheikh Zayed Road, the GEMS Wellington Primary School (GWPS) offers quality primary education based on the National Curriculum of England to children from Foundation Stage to Year Six.
Prince Michael is on a brief visit to the UAE in his role as patron of the GEMS Wellington International School, a world class British curriculum school located on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.
