DUBAI — Several multinational companies recently pledged their support to improve the eating habits among students in Dubai schools.
The joint-venture partners of LunchBoxes.ae, the online healthy school lunchbox service launched in Dubai late last year, announced a strategic alliance with a number of multinational corporations to make a difference in children's eating habits in the UAE.
According to a Press release, companies, including Del Monte, Milco, Oasis Water, Heinz, United Biscuits (McVities), Wenham Major Dubai and Future Health, have pledged support for this fast-growing healthy eating initiative across Dubai schools.
Lester Owencroft and Zouhair Harkous, the two businessmen who pioneered the concept, are intent on making a difference to everyone's lives in the UAE through the promotion and education of children's healthy eating habits.
"We value the commitment from these organisations to support us in ensuring that every school child in Dubai has the opportunity to benefit from a healthy school lunch," says Harkous of CityChef LLC.
"Parents and teachers are now assured that school children have easy online access to a varied, balanced and nutritious lunchbox, all freshly prepared everyday containing some of the world's leading healthy brands and delivered directly to the classroom each morning," adds Harkous.
"We all try hard to send our children off to school each day with a sensible, nutritious and appetising lunchbox comprising a diversity of food groups that they will enjoy," explains Jane Owencroft, Marketing Director of the LunchBoxes.ae brand.
"The attention and support that we are now getting from these large organisations is an indication of how we, as a community, are working together to address the challenges of child obesity and diabetes which are reaching epidemic proportions in the UAE," Owencroft said.
The online service provided by LunchBoxes.ae enables parents to register their details, log on once a week with their child and then create healthy lunchboxes from the appetising online menus.
