ABU DHABI, Mar. 26th, 2008: Australia's Monash University and Abu Dhabi University (ADU) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding which provides for the initiation of joint projects including Islamic Finance and Banking Academy, Center for Retail Services at ADU, English proficiency programs, marketing of programs and other activities.
The MoU fllows talks at a recent meeting in Abu Dhabi by Professor Stephanie Fahey, Deputy Vice Chancellor of ADU, Professor David Wilmoth, CEO of Monash College and Dr. Nizar Farjou, Advisor, Middle East & Arabian Gulf Countries Affairs at Monash Univesity.
Dr. Farjou expressed his keen interest in establishing a collaboration with ADU, adding that ADU representatives have recently visited Monash University and discussed collaboration in the area of Islamic banking.
The MoU will be signed by Professor Fahey of Monash University, and Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of ADU.
"International academic collaborations, such as the one we have achieved, will expand our horizons,? said Ali Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of ADU.
"Through this, we hope to better meet the increasing educational needs in the United Arab Emirates," he stressed.
Monash University, Farjou added, is one of the best eight universities in Australia and is one of the best universities in ?medical research? with an allocated budget of USD 150m to research. Furthermore, it has campuses in Malaysia and South Africa and is in cooperation with Purdue University and Arizona State University.
