Dubai: A federal council for coordination and integration of education has been set up in the UAE.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a resolution setting up the council.

The council will be responsible for implementing joint programmes between the Ministry of Education and local education councils to improve education, achieve integration in planning and drawing up educational plans and ensuring their implementation.

According to the resolution, the council will be chaired by Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, while the ministry's Director General will be its Secretary General.

Pilot projects

Members of the council will include the directors of local education councils and two representatives from the private education sector. Dr Hassan termed the council one of the national pilot projects aimed at upgrading the learning process and developing human resources.

The establishment of the council reflects the vision of the wise leadership and its attention and support to education, Dr Hassan said.

The council will coordinate better implementation of educational policies in line with development plans and the requirements of the local community.

The council will offer advice on Bills, policies and activities related to education and recommend what is required as per socio-economic developments and encourage building partnerships with the private sector.

The council will also unify database and statistics at local and federal levels.
