DUBAI — The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation yesterday announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar-based Silatech as part of an initiative to coordinate efforts to overcome the challenge of unemployment of youths in the Arab world.

The MoU was signed by Sultan Lootah, Vice-President of Entrepreneurship and Employment at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, and Rick Little, Chief Executive of Silatech. The MoU was signed at the Doha Summit on "Young People and Employment in the Arab World".

According to the agreement, the Foundation and Silatech will support the development of training programmes, coordinate with financial institutions to offer attractive incentives to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and increase the young people's access to job opportunities, capital and markets. Silatech was launched in 2008 by Shaikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned of Qatar to create new jobs and opportunities for young people in the Arab World.

Sultan Lootah stated: "The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation is keen to build an effective network of strategic partners who share the Foundation's vision of ensuring a sustainable future for youth across the Arab world."
