Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Media College was launched in Dubai on Saturday with the aim of develop a new generation of professionals capable of assuming leadership roles in the rapidly changing global information landscape.
Established in cooperation with the prestigious Annenberg School for Communication, University of South California (USC), the Mohammad Bin Rashid Media College will be located within the American University of Dubai campus, and receive students for the September 2008 intake for its Bachelor of Media Arts programme.
With the aim of evolving as the Middle East's leading institution for the study of mass communications, the college will offer attractive scholarships to Emirati and Arab students.
The dedicated centre for the study of mass communications comes as Dubai's latest initiative to maintain its competitive edge as a global hub for media and journalism.
It has been founded on the same principles as Dubai Press Club and Dubai Media City to create an enabling environment in Dubai for indigenous media professionals to excel.
Annual events such as the Arab Media Forum, the Arab Journalism Awards and the Ibda'a Media Student Awards further validate the priority that Dubai places on promoting various avenues of the media as a vital communications tool, starting from the grassroots level.
It comes as Dubai's latest initiative to maintain its competitive edge as a global hub for media and journalism.
