ABU DHABI — Intel Chairman Dr Craig R. Barrett interacted with the students of the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi.
Stressing the importance of the technological developments and discoveries, Dr Barrett said, "The most important thing is that what is the next discovery from us and how we can move the technology ahead. The most important thing in the whole process is the environment which this institution is providing you."
He said another most important thing was what you are going to have new in the next 10 or 20 years in the technology.
"When you stop learning and leave the college you will be in a serious problem. If you stop learning you would not be able to move forward. That is the challenge ahead you. But it is also an exciting part of the formal education and technology to accept the challenge and stride ahead," he said.
He focused on three important points to move ahead with the research work in the technology development.
There are only three areas in which you can focus through economic competitiveness. First and the most important is the education. Without a well-skilled work force, the economy will not move forward. Second, smart people need to get together with smart ideas. Because the ideas decide the next generation of companies. And those ideas come from regular research work. This research is the foundation of the next generation of technology.
The third important thing is to create an environment where smart people can get together with smart ideas, so that they can do wonderful things to move the company or organisation forward.
"I find this HCT interesting because this is the place where ideas can be created. I appreciate the way the system has been put in place here," he lauded.
