Under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Concept Events, a full service event management company, has announced the launch of their new initiative Education Middle East (EduME).

This international exhibition on higher education and training will be held from 8 - 11 October, 2008, at Dubai Knowledge Village.

Dubai International Academic City, the region's leading destination for international higher education, has also taken keen interest towards this event as the main venue sponsor for EduME '08.

EduME '08 promises to provide a springboard for the development of the region's burgeoning education sector by offering an interactive forum for students and education professionals to build relationships and share information. The event aims to have both local and international education institutions which will showcase information about their respective programs.

Confirmed participants to date include: Al Ghurair University, Gulf Medical University Ajman, EMMAR Education , New York Film Academy, Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai, European International College of Hotel Management & Tourism, British University in Dubai and Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, to name a few.

Dr Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director, Dubai International Academic City and Dubai Knowledge Village, said:

'We are delighted to be part of the inaugural edition of Education Middle East, which will bring the student community closer to the educational fraternity present in the region. It will also serve as an ideal networking platform, providing latest perspectives on education. Such activities contribute to our goal of creating an environment that works to strengthen the educational system not just in the UAE but throughout the region as well.'

The event will require students to register online prior to attending the exhibition to indicate factors like career interests and geographic preferences. The comprehensive registration process will offer both students and participating institutions a platform for more effective and targeted communication. EduME's core mission - to facilitate the growth and development of higher education in the UAE - has governed the organisation of this initiative. The exhibition will also offer career guidance to students and their parents through seminars and career counseling programs to inform them about the range of opportunities available to them in different parts of the world.

Countries within the GCC have been investing much effort into developing into knowledge-based societies through encouraging the growth of both local institutions and establishment of campuses of internationally-renowned institutions. In 2008 alone, the UAE government allocated approximately 30% of its total budget towards education-based spending.

'An impressive proportion of higher secondary students within the UAE apply for admission to higher education institutions, with 95% of females and 80% of males applying for further studies in the UAE or abroad', said Vinesh Nair, Chief Operating Officer of Concept Group said. 'EduME will provide a practical setting to bring together interested students and educators and to help them align their interests.'
