dubai — Dubai Knowledge Village staff are taking off their jackets and ties and turning up their thermostats to save energy this summer as part of a United Nations ‘Cool UN’ initiative.
The environmentally-friendly programme at the free zone has shown that by turning up the temperature by 2C, significant energy savings were made.
The initiative also encouraged employees to wear lighter clothing and not wear jackets or ties during the hot summer months.
Dr Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director, Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City, said: “Dubai Knowledge Village continues to launch initiatives that aim to safeguard the environment.”
In 2007, Dubai Knowledge Village in partnership with another TECOM Investments Company Energy and Environment Park (Enpark), took the initiative to instal the region’s first-ever solar power tracking device to utilise renewable energy sources.
