Dubai and Hatta, UAE, August 24, 2008 - A team from the Dubai Schools Agency, an agency of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai (KHDA), visited various public schools across Dubai to check on work in progress as teachers and administrations reported back to work after the summer break.
The Schools Agency together with several officials of KHDA scheduled visits to schools to ensure that schools are ready and that students would have a smooth beginning next week when they start their new academic year.
Many teachers and administrators who met with the Agency and KHDA teams expressed their satisfaction with the new channel of direct communication between schools and KHDA. This has motivated and increased their enthusiasm for the new academic year. They have also noted the differences that they have seen in the school cleanliness as compared to last year.
Speaking about the improvements that schools will witness in the coming academic year, Fatma Al Marri, CEO of Dubai Schools Agency, said, “We would like to welcome our colleagues in both the private and public schools for the new academic year and hope that it will be a productive year filled with great achievements on an individual and collective levels.”
We would also like to announce the establishment of the Schools Improvement Unit that will work closely with the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau, to identify areas of improvement in schools and work on them to elevate and enhance the performance level in the educational sector, be it teachers, administration, or curricula.”
She added, “There is so much work to be done during this year, but we believe that all of those working with us are well capable of achieving what we require of them. We will work with them to improve their skills to match international standards, and to apply the best practices so that our educational system would rank among the best worldwide.”
Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority visited several schools in Al Safa, Jumeirah, and Umm Suqeim areas, to check on the improvements and conditions in these schools.
Fatma Al Marri, CEO of the Dubai Schools Agency visited schools in Hatta and checked on the progress of the work in the new schools that have been established as a result of generous donations from HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai.
Taha Al Hamri, Head of the Administrative Services Unit (ASU) under the Schools Agency, visited schools in Al Lasaili area while Mohammed Darwish, Chief of Licensing and Partners relations, visited schools in Al Aweer and Al Khawaneej areas. A team of officials from ASU visited other schools and answered the queries of the teachers and administrators.
On Thursday, August 28, 2008, Dubai Schools Agency will hold a meeting with school principals to present and discuss its plans for the coming year before finalizing and adopting them.
