The UAE federal government is investing Dh7.4 billion in education for teachers' salaries, infrastructure and strategic initiatives in 2009.

Explaining the welcome investment in the school system, Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education said the department is working on creating a team of dedicated educators with good work ethics, committed and eager to improve.

Islamic studies, Social studies and Arabic Language receive boosts in funding. Teachers of the 21st Century, a programme designed to train 10,000 public school teachers from kindergarten to Grade 12 through certified courses, professional development forums and collaborative networks, will also receive an increase in funding.

All of these measures show the government's commitment to increasing opportunity for all and are a prime example of its investment in future generations.

The ministry is developing a classroom professional practice certification, ensuring the highest standards for all educators. Higher standards, professional, dedicated educators, inspired leadership, pupils with opportunities - the groundwork for a bright future is being laid with this investment.
