A child's education is an investment in the future. In this region, education comes at a high cost to parents whose finances are already buffeted by the rising cost of living. But for the child actually gets to school he or she must be transported there in a safe and efficient manner, a task often carried out by the use of school buses.
So it is not surprising that a plan by some schools to outsource their transport arrangements is causing concern among parents. It is probable any such arrangement will entail increased costs that will eventually be passed on to the parents. Aside from the charges, insurance issues and the quality of drivers will also raise legitimate concerns.
Many parents have no option but to rely on school buses to take their children to educational institutions and any increased costs will cause a further impact on the family budget. On top of this there are plans for some schools to relocate to less congested areas and this will entail longer travelling times and the possibility of even more costs. If education really is an investment in the future then no child should be denied this opportunity because of prohibitive transport charges.
