Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) on Tuesday joined hands with Casa Arabe, a Madrid-based non-profit establishment, to enhance cultural cooperation between Spain and the Arab world, according to the MBRF.

Casa Arabe is an international institute active in Arab and Islamic studies. It was created to strengthen and consolidate Spain's relationship with the Arab countries.

A memorandum of understanding was signed in a ceremony in the presence of Manuel Pineiro, Ambassador of Spain, Yasser Hareb, vice president for culture of the MBRF, and Gema Martin Munoz, director-general of Casa Arabe.

The memorandum defines fields of collaboration such as international writers forums, the translation of bestseller books from Arabic into Spanish and vice versa, and the launching of exchange programmes for writers and researchers.

"The agreement will build on the historic relations that link Spain with the Arab world to initiate a new era of rich and constructive cultural interaction," said Jamal Al Shehi, director of culture of the MBRF.
