Abu Dhabi — The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) have decided to halt the enrolment of expatriate students in the afternoon classes in Abu Dhabi.

Minister of Education Dr Hanif Hassan took the decision to enforce this from the beginning of this academic year as the first step to close down the Expatriates Afternoon Schools in Abu Dhabi in the next three years.

There are 13 afternoon schools for expatriates, which have around 7,000 students.

Dr Hassan said the outstanding students could enrol in the public schools in case they meet the conditions set annually. The students can also join the 138 private schools in the emirate from the next academic year.
