Dubai: An Education Coordination and Integration Council will be launched on Thursday, which aims to coordinate between the education ministry, councils and authorities.
The launch is on the directive of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to raise education standards in UAE schools, and under the instructions of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to formulate a council that activates coordination between the Ministry of Education, education councils and authorities in the fields of educational strategies and policies that are currently adopted by the ministry.
Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, said: "His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum gave his instructions to implement the federal ministry’s education reform in the fields of: policy and planning, curriculum, assessment and examination, in order to guarantee that the ministry’s future strategic and education vision coincide with all the sectors of the society, and establish unified data and statistics. His Highness instructed the ministry to consolidate its partnership with the private sector and strengthen the integration of social and economic fields with education."
The minister said the council’s agenda includes nine basic topics beginning with: the ministry of education’s vision in private education sector, regulating by-laws of this vital sector, accreditation of unified academic national standards, cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education in completing English language foundation programmes in the government universities, curriculum development committee, preparation of education databases, coordination with government universities to achieve a balance between the numbers of graduated national students and fulfilling the needs of the education sector, teaching licensure and parents’ involvement in education issues.
