Dubai: Students at Earth University do more than just study - they proactively work to build a better world.

Nestled amid the forests and beaches of Liman, Costa Rica, the university aims to bring environmental consciousness to college education.

According to university president Jose A. Zaglul, the use of plasma technology in processing toxic and non-toxic waste is pollution-free method to create renewable energy.

"Plasma disintegrates waste into its original molecular components and produces hydrogen, which can then be used as energy," he said.
Using a system called biodigesters, the university transforms animal and human waste into energy for cooking and generating electricity.

Zaglul said Earth University has plans of introducing courses in existing universities in the GCC region.
