ABU DHABI — The Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) and the National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies (NCEIS) at the University of Melbourne, Australia, have entered into an agreement to share information and cooperate in programmes.
The agreement was concluded during a meeting between ECSSR Director-General Dr Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi and NCEIS Deputy Director Dr Sharam Akbar Zada yesterday.
The agreement is part of a series of mutual research cooperation accords that have been signed between the centre and similar academic institutions in several countries, Dr Al Suwaidi said.
The NCEIS has been established to offer distinguished programmes at higher education level in the field of Islamic studies, and in cooperation with a number of Australian universities.
It plays a significantly leading role in the general debate revolving round modern Islam, specially in Australia.
