Dubai: The Kids Press Club media training programme which ended on Thursday helped identify many future journalists, said a senior representative from the Dubai Press Club.

The children were given a three-week media training and later faced the real press answering questions on their experiences.

"The press conference was strikingly different from the usual press meets that journalists are used to. They interacted with the kids," Maryam Bin Fahd, executive director of the Dubai Press Club said.

She said she was delighted by the success of the programme. "It is a matter of great pleasure that we have identified among the participating kids many future journalists. Dubai Press Club is pleased to have played a role in helping these kids realise a potential vocation," she said.

She said the Kids Press Club is a significant component in the Dubai Press Club's media development strategy as it exposes the younger generation to the fundamental role of the media in society.

The director thanked the organisations that partnered in this important initiative, particularly Al Arabiya TV, Arab Media Group, Unicef and SAE, the world's first media education institution to focus on sound engineering, electronic movies and cinema.

Launched in 2000, the Kids Press Club has grown over the years in popularity, drawing kids of diverse nationalities and backgrounds residing in the UAE.
