Dubai: The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched special channels through the YouTube and Facebook websites as a means of interaction with its customers and the general public.

"The aim in launching the new initiative is to reach a wider segment of the community for our services, educational campaigns and other customer related issues," said Beyman Younes, Director of the Marketing and Corporate Communication Department at the RTA's Corporate Support Services Sector.

He added that providing YouTube and Facebook services are part of wide-ranging media campaigns and initiatives currently launched by the RTA through newspapers, radios, and television channels with a view to establishing constructive interactive links with the public and the media.

"The public is a key partner of the RTA.

"Interacting with the public through multimedia, such as daily papers, portals, radios and television channels, is extremely important.

Solid database

"Therefore we considered dealing with these global portals, which are accessed by the 20 to 35-year-old age group, which accounts for around 50 per cent of the UAE population," he added.

Through launching this YouTube and Facebook service, the RTA is seeking to establish a solid knowledge database in order to build a knowledge community capable of developing, sharing and applying knowledge to achieve further development.
