AL GHARBIA — The annual fees for expatriate students who wish to be enrolled in public schools in the Western Region will has been fixed at Dh6,000 per year.

The fees applies to public schools run by foreign companies or supervised directly by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), and is meant for students staying in cities without private schools, such as Sila, Ghiyathi, Liwa, Delma Island and Abu Rahma.

As for the expatriate students enrolled in public schools and staying in cities with private schools, such as Zayed, Al Ruwais and Al Marfaa, they will pay the same fees as approved last year, which is Dh10,000 for primary stage, Dh15,000 for preparatory stage and Dh20,000 for the secondary stage.  Khaleej Times had earlier reported about the dilemma faced by parents of expatriate students in the Western Region because of the high fees.

“All students, nationals or expatriates, are entitled to equal education opportunities here,” said Dr Mugheer Khamees Al Kheili, director of ADEC.
