Dubai International Academic City, a member of TECOM Investments, and regional leader for higher education, showcased Dubai as a destination for international education at the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) 2008 Annual Conference in the US.

Held in Washington DC, the theme of this year's AIEA conference was 'Globalization: Implications for International Education.'

Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director of Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City, gave a presentation on the ‘Best Practices in Higher Education Capacity Creation: Dubai and Singapore' at one of the conference sessions which generated a lot of interest among the participants.

Dr. Kazim said: "Dubai International Academic City will provide the best academic environment for international programmes to both resident and expatriate students. In line with Dubai's vision of becoming an international destination for education by the year 2012, foreign students who wish to pursue their education in the emirate are privileged to enjoy the multidisciplinary academic facilities as well as numerous programmes offered by an increasing number of higher education institutions."

As a cluster dedicated to HR development, Dubai International Academic City and Dubai Knowledge Village have received tremendous support from the government and our business partners in ensuring the successful integration of education, training and services in a single location.

"Dubai International Academic City was created out of the need of DKV business partners for a cluster dedicated to higher education. As we endeavour to position ourselves as the Middle East's leading centre for excellence in learning and innovation,  we have delegated Dubai Knowledge Village as the main provider of professional training and learning support services, accelerating Dubai's move towards a knowledge-based economy," added Dr. Ayoub.

Currently, Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City host 20 reputed international universities from 10 countries including the US, the UK, Belgium, Ireland, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Australia, France and the Indian Subcontinent, catering to over 10,000 students. Its current under-graduate and post-graduate programmes include computing, engineering and technology, business management, life sciences, fashion, advertising, public relations, retailing and media.

Established in 1982, the AIEA is a membership organization that provides an effective platform for institutional leaders to address significant issues within international education at all levels.
