Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council has issued a decision to set up the Statistical Coordination Committee in Dubai, which comprises 11 government and semi-government bodies as members.
The representative bodies of the committee, headed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dubai Statistics Centre, were selected based on the statistical size and load they represent in the emirate.
According to the press release issued by Dubai Statistics Centre, the committee aims to guide statistical work in the emirate, in order to support the Dubai Strategic Plan, as well as achieve integration of statistical work through coordination between major organisations that issue statistical data.
The committee will also undertake work to facilitate statistical data flow by enhancing the level of cooperation between the centre and data sources.
Besides Dubai Statistics Centre, the other members of the committee are Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Health Authority, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Port, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Department of Economic Development, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Department of Naturalisation and Residency, and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The decision has also authorised the chairman of the governing body of the centre to add two more representatives from relevant federal or local government organisations.
Many of these organisations represent statistical importance at the national level.
