ABU DHABI - Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), met Matti Lassila, the Finnish Ambassador, here on Tuesday to discuss education cooperation between the two sides.

Dr Al Khaili hailed the ambassador on the high standards achieved by Finland's education system which is one of the best in the world.

"Abu Dhabi is working very hard to improve its education system in order to reach international standards and we are keen to learn from others who have proven success in the education arena," Dr Al Khaili said.

Lassila said, "Our teachers are of the highest quality and are held in high esteem in the community. We are keen to participate in exchanges where education leaders can visit our schools and learn from our experience."

Further discussions highlighted the possibility of exchanges of education experts on a regular basis in the fields of teacher education, special needs and vocational education.
