Dubai: The key to improving education is to maintain a balance between challenging the pupils' mind and providing support to schools, said a keynote speaker.
Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB), a constituency of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), organised its first conference on "the role of inspection in school improvement."
Professor John MacBeath, Professor Emeritus at the University of Cambridge, said self-evaluation and assessment is measured over time.
"Education should help students understand the learning process. It should be proactive," said Prof MacBeath while addressing school official, teachers and parents.
The Dubai School Inspection Bureau aims to contribute to the improvement of educational outcomes and parental choice by providing independent, comprehensive, authoritative assessment of education quality in Dubai," said Jameela Al Muhairi, Chief of DSIB.
Dr Ashok Ganguly offered during his lecture the Indian perspective to international quality in education saying that students need to be given the space to experiment their creativity.
