RAS AL KHAIMAH — Bharati Vidyapeeth University (BVU) will open a Ras Al Khaimah unit at the Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) in February.
Oussama El Omari, CEO and director general of the RAK Free Trade Zone, said the establishment of a campus in Ras Al Khaimah by Bharati Vidyapeeth University, one of the leading higher education providers in India, would greatly promote and develop the emirate’s education sector.
“With such emerging institutions in the emirate, nationals and residents no longer have to look far to receive first class education from internationally recognised institutions,” said Oussama El Omari.
“According to our current plans, we would start with offering management courses with an initial intake of 120 students for both the BBA and MBA courses,” said a BVU official.
According to Oussama El Omari until recently, RAK students did not have many choices for the university education, as most institutions were being established in the other emirates.
The RAK FTZ has worked hand in hand with the emirate’s authorities to attract international universities to set up their campuses in the emirate so that they can offer courses and training necessary to the emirate’s emerging industries.
Oussama El Omari said different academies specialising in the aviation, tourism and hospitality industries have also signed up in the free trade zone.
“We are after quality not quantity, RAK FTZ is actively pursuing educational institutions that offer courses that are relevant to the times,” he added.
RAK FTZ is offering attractive benefits and trouble-free registration, easy visa applications and administrative support for educational organisations to encourage them sign up with the zone.
More than seven international universities are registered with the RAK FTZ, most of which have started operating.
