ABU DHABI — Dr Mughir Khamis Al Khaili, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), on Tuesday decided to provide 350 new buses to public schools in the emirate.

The decision was taken at a meeting with the directors of the Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbia Educational Zones to discuss the schools’ needs, including staff, books, furniture, transportation and maintenance, for the next academic year.

Directors of the educational zones Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri (Abu Dhabi), Salem Al Kathiri (Al Ain) and Khalfan Al Mansur (Al Gharbia) attended the meeting. On the transportation needs, Dr Al Khaili said air-conditioned buses will be provided to the schools in coordination with the Emirates Transport Authority. The Executive Council has approved provision of 350 such buses.

Dr Al Khaili stressed the necessity of coordination with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to provide amenities needed by the schools before the commencement of the new academic year to enable them to receive students from day one without any obstacles or deficiencies.

He praised the efforts of the educational zones and the inventory committees for their role in identifying the needs and access to accurate statistics to meet those needs prior to the commencement of the academic year.

“Creating a proper learning environment for our students and staff is our mission, as it will motivate them to invest their time in education which would benefit the students and the education process,” Dr Al Khaili pointed out.

He reviewed the reports of the inventory committees and the coordination steps taken up with the authorities concerned in the MoE to provide 545 teachers in the three educational zones to meet the increase in the number of students and classes and to increase the number of English language periods in C1 level.
