DUBAI - Fifty drivers have been issued exclusive bus driving licences by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as part of its regulations to streamline school trans portation services in the emirate by 2009.
The RTA’s Public Transport Agency has set a deadline of March 2009 for private and public schools to send their drivers for an intensive complimentary training course that is being hosted by the Drivers Training and Qualifying Office at PTA, in association with the Swedish Traffic Institute in Dubai.
The course acquaints drivers with their main obligations towards school students and educates them on the principles of safe driving to avoid accidents and ensuing problems.
The agency has set the beginning of the next academic year 2009-2010 as the deadline for schools to implement the required changes to their buses in accordance with the School Transport Manual specifications.
