SHARJAH — Twenty students from the American University of Sharjah yesterday received the Government of Sharjah Awards for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Achievements from Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The students were awarded for their exceptional academic record and significant contribution to extracurricular student activities at an award ceremony held in Sharjah. Each award winner received a check of Dh7,000.
Shaikh Sultan congratulated the winners on their achievement and urged them to continue their search for knowledge saying that countries are built by educated people.
He added, "I also want to thank, on your behalf, His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of American University of Sharjah, for his continuous support to the university, which has built a strong reputation in the region and the world."
Shaikh Sultan said that AUS graduates have managed to prove themselves in the job market. "Many of the university students have been approached for jobs and this reflects positively on the university," he said.
The Sharjah Crown Prince also hoped the graduates would reflect the true image of the region and correct its misconceptions in the West.
